warning for mild medical descriptions
not being too specific but ik some ppl are squeamish about medical stuff!
so i had my surgery consult yesterday, and they just went ahead and did it under local anesthesia! i was awake for it, didnt hurt at all actually. not even the numbing injections they warned me would burn severely. my high pain tolerance is a blessing... tho sometimes a curse, as thats the reason the wound went undiscovered for several months lmao. also it wasnt sewn up (cant due to the nature of the wound and cause), but rather opened up a bit to be thoroughly cleaned out + made to where it can heal better on its own! (:
BUT YEAH im expected to be fully healed in 5 weeks, give or take, and have a followup with the surgeon in 2 weeks. im ready for this to be over with woo!! tho i was also informed theres a 20% chance it could come back in my life, since it happened once it can happen again. there are ways to try preventing it, tho its not guaranteed so the doctor just recommended to keep an eye on the area every now and then. itll start as a cyst before it bursts into a wound anyways (how did i never feel a cyst burst there?!)
im glad ive been used to medical procedures and needles my whole life, otherwise the sudden surgery during the consult would have been a problem lol. had to give blood all the time as a toddler bc i was born with hyopothyroidism. not to mention spinal procedures as a teen. and many many diagnostic procedures + MRIs in my life. ...plus ive experienced necrosis before and was totally fine with it, unbothered, meanwhile my mom was trying SO hard not to freak out in front of me LMAO
no yeah im glad i got it over with. i wanna heal already!! my bf is very helpful with cleaning and dressing the wound site too, which i appreciate since i cant do it myself (limited mobility and all, i cant reach). yesterday i was so sad i was too exhausted to draw, and mat kept having to bonk me over the head like "YOU JUST HAD SURGERY TODAY" lolll but what if i LIKE drawing... :3
tldr i got surgery, im healing, im fine :D
