so my motherboard seems to dead... got help from my bf's dad (works in IT) over the phone, tried some fixes, but its been narrowed down to most likely needing a replacement for my motherboard ): if not that, my system SSD must have failed suddenly (which would be odd, when my D drive internal SSD was dying, it was simply going slow and fucking up until i couldnt read or write to it anymore. my system SSD has shown no such signs)
so i gotta go to a repair shop this week to help confirm up close that i need to replace the motherboard. Or perhaps find a fix that doesnt require paying for a PC part?? who knows whatll happen..
even if it is my system SSD, i have almost everything on it backed up. only important things id lose is my terraria save files and sprite sketches for a gamejam im in this month. By the way, my pc fucking up rn is terrible timing since im the artist in a gamejam and citrus con is in less than 2 weeks ... hoping itll be fixed before then ahhhhhh!!

I havent finished reading this library book due on the 27th.. nor have i started houseki no kuni v7...
if i do lose my terraria saves ill be devastated, me n mat are somewhat far along in a calamity run that i have the world for. but what can u do ):

The hardware issues struck me last week too. unexpected power outage, killed my old motherboard. We had a spare lying around, but I was pretty worried a drive could have messed up too. Hopefully yours are okay! You're doing a game jam though? Good luck with that, hope you can get a replacement motherboard soon.
There are so many things that can be done when our computers just die suddenly but not having them available is a terrible discomfort. I usually pick up a notebook when I just can't use my pc, but it's almost the only time i do!

glad u had a spare! Needing computer parts suddenly sucks as an expense. i Really hope my system drive is ok, im avoiding windows 11 (still on 10) plus id hate to lose all my terraria characters and worlds.
...maybe if its fine, i should invest in cloning it to a new internal SSD when i can afford it. since ive had this hard drive since 2019 anyways
but fr ty!! ive been trying to read and also write while i cant draw, but its been hard to focus since i have art pieces i really want to work on lol. i have been dipping into my book backlog a bit, and got into a crossword game for 3DS! just have to be sooo patient about my pc getting fixed (every day feels like an eternity lmao)

Yeah, me too, just don't trust windows anymore personally. I'm probably gonna move to linux at some point.

3DS is so nostalgic! Ayo crosswords! Brain games! I'm kinda tempted to open up some of my old pokemon games there. Platinum and Diamond were so fun.

oh no yeah prices are gonna skyrocket, im going to a con in mid march so i prob wont be able to get a new SSD until im paid in late march oops
real! i always have so many ideas written down, yet so little energy and time lol
yess i love my 3DS so much! i didnt play pokemon growing up so ive only ever played X and Y and then Sun and Moon, but i have a huge love for the Kirby DS and 3DS games (gameboy advance too, i still have some physicals cartridges for it too)
3DS is also good for language learning practice, i play animal crossing new leaf in jpn as well as playing ocarina of time for the first time ever.. also in jpn!
